UMass Rowing Opens Spring Season With Home Regatta Saturday

Amherst, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team begins its spring season on Saturday, hosting a three-team regatta with New Hampshire and Coast Guard. The races will be held beginning at 9 a.m. on the Connecticut River in Hadley. Viewing the race is possible on the West Street break wall.
There will be four races on Saturday. UMass will enter a varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight, and a novice eight.
The UMass boats will include the following rowers and coxswains.
Varsity 8: Ellen Maskrey, Gabrielle Papineau, Sarah Marsan, Hannah Brewster, Airlina Burrill, Amanda Mawn, Rachael Nealer, Tara Guinan, and coxswain Dana Pulda.
2nd Varsity 8: Andrea Morand, Haley Fitzgerald, Karen Plevock, Erin Kelly, Elizabeth Hayashida, Anna Welch, Kristin Boyce, Karalyn Walk, and coxswain Jeanine LeDoux.
3rd Varsity 8: Anna Milinkivich, Julie Markus, Courtney Mulvihill, Stephanie Rist, Meaghan Dempster, Sarah Potts, Abby Lively, Maria Arcari, and coxswain Molly Morgan.
Novice 8: Sarah Albert, Jenna Oelschlegel, Anna Kenseth, Jennifer Rivero, Samantha Smith, Meghan Caffrey, Chelsea Finnegan, Allison Donzanti, and coxswain Melissa D'Amico.
Directions to the West Street break wall are: From the North, South and West: Take I-91 to route 9 East. As you come in to Hadley, make a left turn on to West Street. It will dead end in to the break wall.
From the East: Take route 9 West. Then make a right turn on to West Street. It will dead in to the break wall.
The Minutewomen begin their quest for a 12th straight Atlantic 10 championship with this home meet. Next weekend, they will row in Rhode Island on Saturday and in New York on Sunday, and will also compete in Boston, April 14-15 in preparation for the A-10's on April 21.
