• UMass and Notre Dame meet for just the fifth time in program history. UMass now leads the series 3-2. This was the first meeting between the two schools at a neutral site. This was the first meeting between the two schools since Dec. 11, 1999.

• UMass head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon is now 8-0-0 in his career vs. Notre Dame.

• UMass is now 5-0-4 when scoring at least one power play goal in a game.

• UMass is now 4-1-1 (update) against ranked teams this season.

• UMass scored 30 seconds into the second period making them 8-1-0 this season when scoring first in the second period.

• UMass is now 39-0-1 in the last 40 games where the Minutemen score four-or-more goals. Their last loss when scoring four goals was against New Hampshire on March 14, 2003 in the Hockey East Semifinals.

• With the win UMass ended Notre Dames nine-game win streak which was the longest in the country entering the game. The last time Notre Dame lost was on Nov. 10 at No. 1 Miami (3-1).

• Notre Dame entered the game with the nation's second best penalty kill unit at 92.7 percent (7-for-96). UMass scored three power play goals on five chances for the game.

• Mike Kostka scored UMass' first goal of the game - his third of the season and ninth of his career. All three of his goals this season have come on the power play.

• With his three assists, P.J. Fenton takes lone possession of 21st place on the all-time point list with 78 career points. With 48 career assists, he now holds 17th place all-time. His three-assist day was his second consecutive three-assist game this season.

• Cory Quirk moved into 35th all-time on the career points chart with his goal and assist giving him 55 career points. He moved into UMass' top-50 for assists with 29 for his career ranking him 46th.

• Quirk's four points (1g, 3a) was the ninth time in his career he tallied multiple points in a game. His four points were a season high for a game. His three assists is a new career-high for a game.

• Chris Davis had one assist improving UMass to 6-0-2 in games where he registers at least one point.

• Justin Braun scored his fourth goal of the season to lead all UMass defensemen. It was the eighth goal of his career. He also had an assist giving him 11 points for the season.

• UMass fans were treated to a special guest interview as former NHL coaching great Pat Burns joined Brock Hines and Donnie Moorhouse during the first intermission.
