ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers claimed outfielder Nick Gorneault off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He hit .261 with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs in 128 games at Triple-A Salt Lake City last season. The Rangers completed their 40-man roster by acquiring Gorneault off waivers. Gorneault made his major league debut in 2007, appearing in two games and going 0-for-4.
He hit .293 with 26 home runs and 108 RBIs at Salt Lake in 2005, but suffered a fractured knee cap in 2006 that derailed his progress.
He was a 19th-round pick in the 2001 draft coming out of UMass.
