POSTGAME NOTES - UMass at Providence

* Following tonight's loss at Providence, UMass is 2-2-1 on the season.
* UMass is now 485-674-71 in 76 years of intercollegiate hockey, 17-29-2 all-time vs. Providence, 137-323-39 in Hockey East action and 11-7-3 in the last 20 games.
* Head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon is now 283-302-59 in 21 years and 103-133-23 in his eighth season as head coach of UMass. He is now 10-12-2 all-time vs. Providence.
* Freshman Marc Concannon played in his first collegiate action today.
* P.J. Fenton, Cory Quirk and Will Ortiz started tonight on the front line - the second time that line has started the game (UMass Lowell, 10/19). Martin Nolet and Michael Kostka started on defense for the second time this season (at Clarkson, 10/12), while Paul Dainton made his fourth appearance of the season in goal.
* Paul Dainton made his fourth start between the pipes for UMass turning away 32 shots - a new season-high. Dainton made 14 saves in the first period which was the most for any single period this season by a UMass goalie.
* UMass committed seven penalties for a season-high 25 minutes.
* Matt Burto scored his second goal of the season in the second period. He becomes the first skater this year to score multiple goals. He now has 14 career goals and has scored in each of the last two games. It was his third goal in 24 career games.
* Jordan Virtue was credited with the assist on Burto's goal. It was his fourth career assist in 28 career games.
