Spiess And Pozar Eliminated At Cissy Leary Invitational

A pair of women's tennis standouts fell victim and were eliminated from the Cissy Leary Invitational on Saturday. Michele Spiess lost to Milena Kachar of Columbia while Masha Pozar fell to Radka Feraneova of Temple. They both went on to consolation brackets and were defeated in highly competitive matches.
In Group A singles, Michele Spiess lost to the number 3 seed in the field of 64. Milena Kachar of Columbia defeated her 6-2, 6-3. Spiess went on to the consolation bracket where she fell to Julia Koulbitskaya of the host Penn Quakers.
In Group B, Masha Pozar lost 6-4, 6-1 to Radka Feraneova of Temple. In the consolation, she fell to Natalia Toporowska of Arizona in a very competitive and hard-fought match, 7-6(5), 2-6, 11-9.
The Cissy Leary Invitational concludes on Sunday with championship matches. The Minutewomen are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Storrs, Conn. for a showdown with UConn. Check back to www.umassathletics.com for complete results and recaps of that match.
