Twomley Called Up To AA Portland Sea Dogs

PORTLAND, Maine - Former UMass outfielder Jason Twomley was called up to the Boston Red Sox' AA affiliate Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday. Twomley was drafted by the Red Sox in the 27th round of the 2005 MLB amateur draft, No. 738 overall. He was previously with the Lowell Spinners.
Twomley was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team for the first time in 2005. As a senior, the Fitchburg, Mass. native was in the top-five of numerous A-10 statistical categories, including slugging%, home runs, walks, runs scored and on base%. He led the Minutemen in runs (46), triples (1), home runs (16), total bases (98), slugging% (.700), walks (34) and on base% (.467). He was a one-time A-10 Player of the Week and UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week.

The Boston Red Sox made the following roster moves for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday:
Outfielder Jason Twomley received from Extended Spring Training.
Twomley was a 27th round draft pick of the Red Sox in the June 2005 draft. He spent the entire 2005 season at Single-A Lowell where he hit .252 with 7 home runs and 36 RBI in 66 games.
The 23 year old is a native of Fitchburg, Massachusetts and attended the University of Massachusetts.
The Sea Dogs continue their homestand with the Connecticut Defenders (Giants) tonight at 6:00 p.m. at Hadlock Field.
