UMass Varsity Eight Finishes Second In Dad Vail Regatta

Philadelphia, Pa. - The UMass women's rowing team competed at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday. The varsity eight finished second, while the second varsity eight took third in its event. The novice eight was fifth.

The varsity eight completed the championship race in a time of 6:41.58. Saint Joseph's won the event in 6:40.02. Buffalo was third followed by San Diego, Villanova, and Rhode Island. The varsity eight won its preliminary heat and also the semifinal race.

The second varsity eight had a a time of 6:50.00 in finishing third in their championship race. Buffalo was first with a 6:43.58 and Bucknell was second at 6:45.31. Vermont, UConn, and Colgate were fourth through sixth in the championship race. The second varsity eight took second in both its preliminary heat and in the semifinal race.

The novice eight was fifth with a time of 7:15.2 in the championship race. Purdue won the event with a time of 7:01.05. Lehigh was second, Saint Joseph's third, and Grand Valley State was fourth.
