PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Massachusetts women's basketball sophomores Kate Mills (Elkton, Md.) and Pam Rosanio (Southampton, Pa.) have been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team . Mills and Rosanio, who accounted for 43 percent of the team's scoring this year, were both All-Rookie picks last year.

Mills finished the regular season second on the team with 12.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. She ranks 16th in the A-10 in scoring, fourth in free throw percentage (.772) and fifth in blocks (1.22/game). Mills has also shot a team-high 54 percent from the field this season. If she qualified, Mills would rank first in the league in field goal percentage. In order to qualify however, Mills would need to average 5.0 field goals made a game. She is currently at 4.78.

Mills is already tied for eighth all-time on the career charts with 58 blocked shots through this point of her sophomore season. Mills has four 20-point games this year and three double-doubles. She also sank the game-winning free throws with 10 seconds left to help UMass upset #25/25 George Washington Jan. 22 at the Mullins Center. Mills had her best career game at Charlotte Jan. 15 with 24 points and 12 rebounds. She has blocked four shots in two games this season and swatted multiple shots seven times.

Rosanio, who was a second-team preseason All-Atlantic 10 selection, leads the team in scoring at 12.5 ppg. That is good for 13th in the league. She also has 4.4 rebounds per game and 2.59 assists per game. Rosanio ranks sixth in the A-10 with a .764 free throw percentage and has also shot 40 percent from the field.

Rosanio has reached double-figures 16 times this season, including 11 where she went over 15 points. Her career-high for points is 24, which she scored on Jan. 13 against Rhode Island. Her first career 10-rebound game came on Feb. 23 at Saint Louis. She also set a new career-high with seven assists against the Billikens. Rosanio is first on the team playing in 34.4 minutes a game and has played the entire 40 twice this season.

Temple's Candice Dupree earned league Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. Hilary Klimowicz of Saint Joseph's was tabbed the Rookie of the Year, while Sarah-Jo Lawrence was named the Sixth-Player of the Year. La Salle's Carlene Hightower earned the Most-Improved Player honors, while Tyler McIlwraith of Saint Louis was named Student-Athlete of the Year. Amanda Butler of Charlotte was selected as the Coach of the Year.

First-team selections were Kimberly Beck (George Washington), Tara Boothe (Xavier), Pam Brown (Charlotte), Sakellie Daniels (Charlotte), Dupree, Suntana Granderson (Xavier), Kamesha Hairston (Temple), Crista Ricketts (La Salle), Cara Wright (Dayton) and Jessica Simmonds (George Washington).

The Minutewomen will head down to Philadelphia Thursday for the 2006 Atlantic 10 Tournament. UMass, the No. 7 seed, will take on 10th-seeded Duquesne in the first round Friday at 4:00 PM. This is the third-straight year that UMass and Duquesne have met in the first round. The Dukes won the game two years ago, while the Minutewomen took last year's match-up. The winner of this game will go on to face No. 2 Charlotte in the quarterfinals Saturday at 4:00 PM. Live stats of all games will be available via Gametracker at www.umassathletics.com. WMUA (91.1 FM in Amherst and online at www.umassathletics.com) will have the broadcast as well.
