AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman George Byrd (Naples, Fla.) was named the Atlantic 10 Special Teams Player of the Week on Sunday after his blocked punt against Army on Saturday in the 34-27 loss. Byrd's block was recovered by teammate Bryan Haynes for a touchdown in the third quarter with 6:07 left. The touchdown brought the Minutemen to within 19-17. It marked Massachusetts' first blocked punt for a touchdown since Sept. 4, 2004, at Delaware State .Byrd was also in on one tackle.
