Coach Don Brown
On using the bye to prepare for Northeastern
"We tried to work on cleanup areas in the kicking game, especially the kick return game. Obviously any part of the kicking game was hard today."
"I thought we got done what we needed to get done. We got Matt Austin back and we got a lot of those guys a lot healthier."
"You're not going to get out of a game like today without turnovers, but we never really put ourselves in a bad position."
"We didn't need to use a whole heck of a lot of the game plan defensively or offensively since a lot of the pass game got eliminated due to the elements."
On the game plan
"Our game plan was to maintain field position, hang onto the ball, and hopefully get out of there with a win."
"We have a team formula for success and we're trying to follow it on a week-to-week basis. All we're trying to do is win each week. Our guys love to play and I'm proud of them."
Tim Day
On playing wide receiver
"I played a lot in high school. I kind of have a feel for it. Catching a pass is more exciting than completing one."
"It feels good to get back to contributing more. Liam's playing great and he got me the ball in terrible coniditons. We were working on that play all week so we knew we could get it."
R.J. Cobbs
On playing in the rain
"It was a lot of fun. Just being a kid I guess. Getting out there in the mud and raining. When it started coming down real hard everyone had smiles on their faces, playing in their zone and playing their game." On his leaping touchdown run Shannon James "I knew he (the receiver) was running a hitch and I stepped up. They tried to force the ball." James Ihedigbo "We just make it our goal to play fast and play physical and we let the offense do their job."
Coach Rocky Hager "I believe we are a better football team than we played today. There wasn't an awful amount of evidence of that on the field."
"We struggled with the weather more than they struggled with the weather. . . Our defense firmed up and played better in the second half. Offensively we struggled all afternoon, to the point where lost our composure at points."
"I don't believe in making excuses, as I told the team a minute ago, we have a lot of young guys that are having to play."
"Every time we tried to throw we had a tough time throwing the ball, it sailed on Anthony much of the day. We had some opportunities for some catches, but we didn't execute."
Anthony Orio Corey Parker
"We watched tape and I knew they were kind of shaky at tackling down there so I just leaped. I didn't know when he was going to do it so I just leaped I felt he going down there."
On the weather's effect on the game
"I don't think it really affected us at all because we're used to getting physical, we practice that day three days a week. The Offensive Line goes through a lot of pounding and I want to give credit to the five strong. They put in their work and opened up holes for me and if it wasn';t for them I wouldn't be able to break out. We did pretty well establishing the running game."
On his record breaking interception
On the UMass defense
On his team's performance
On playing in the bad weather
"There aren't any excuses, the other team threw the ball just fine."
On going against the UMass defense in the bad weather:
"Of course going against the number one defense in the nation is always tough. The conditions were just an added factor in everything."
