Amherst, Mass. - UMass women's rowing coach Jim Dietz has named Alex Binkowski and Lizzy Boyle as assistant coaches for the 2004-05 season. He also has named Charles Huthmaker and Laura Hutchinson as graduate assistants.
"I'm extremely excited about the caliber of coaches coming in and the prospects for the future," said Dietz.
Binkowski joins the UMass staff from the Riddle Point Rowing Association in Bloomington, Indiana. He has collegiate coaching experience at Indiana, Washburn University, and Kansas State. He rowed as an undergraduate at Wayne State from 1982-84.

In addition to her three years on the rowing team, Boyle was on the UMass swim team from 1999-2003 and on the water polo team from 1999-2001.
"Alex has year of knowledge and experience to draw upon and Lizzy's enthusiasm will be matched by no other," said Dietz.
Huthmaker was the head coach at Stetson the past six years (1998-2004) and has come to UMass to earn his master's degree in exercise science. Hutchinson, a 2004 UMass graduate, was a four year rower for the Minutewomen, rowing in the second varsity eight. Hutchinson will pursue a master's in nutrition.
