Amherst, Mass. - The UMass women's rowing team looks for its ninth straight Atlantic 10 championship on Saturday, when they race on the Cooper River in Collingswood, N.J. The trials begin at 8 a.m. and the finals start at approximately 10:30 a.m. The Minutewomen won last year's event by 10 points with George Washington and Rhode Island tied for second. Coach Jim Dietz' crew has won the A-10's every year the conference has sponsored a championship.

The UMass varsity eight has been dominant in Atlantic 10 competition, winning in seven of the previous eight years. This season, the varsity eight has won every race but one. The lone loss came to nationally-ranked Brown by less than five seconds.

The UMass varsity eight consists of rowers Hayley McGrath, a senior from Northampton, Mass.; Lizzy Boyle, a senior from Darien, Conn.; Lea Jakobsen, a junior from Copenhagen, Denmark; Lauren Cromwell, a senior from Missoula, Mont.; Katie O'Brien, a senior from Shrewsbury, Mass.; Stephanie Hopf, a sophomore from Hadley, Mass.; Faith Harkins, a junior from Marion, Mass.; and Catherine Gariepy, a sophomore from Lorraine, Quebec. The coxswain is senior Carrie Champigny from Danvers, Mass.

DIRECTIONS TO COOPER RIVER

From Philadelphia International Airport Take Interstate 95 North to the Walt Whitman Bridge. From the bridge follow 676 East Route 130 North to Route 70 East to Cuthbert Boulevard. Cuthbert Boulevard is right after Bishop Eustace High School. Make a right onto Cuthbert Boulevard and follow to North Park Drive, turn right. The boat trailer parking area will be located on your left.

From Center City Philadelphia Take 676 East to the Ben Franklin Bridge. Follow Route 30 East to Route 70 East . Take 70 East to Cuthbert Boulevard (you will pass Bishop Eustace High School on your right). Make a right onto Cuthbert Boulevard and follow this to North Park Drive. Make a right onto North Park Drive. The boat trailer parking area will be on your left.

From New York City/ North Jersey Take the New Jersey Turnpike South to Exit 4. Then take Route 73 North (one block) to Interstate 295 South. Follow Interstate 295 South to Exit 34 (Cherry Hill/Route 70 West). Proceed approximately 4 miles on Route 70 West to the Cuthbert Boulevard/Collingswood Exit. At North Park Drive, take a right. Follow this to the boat trailer parking area, which will be on your left.

From Atlantic City/South Jersey Take the Atlantic City Expressway to Route 42 North to Interstate 295 North to Exit 34 (Cherry Hill/Route 70 West). Proceed approximately 4 miles on Route 70 West to the Cuthbert Boulevard/Collingswood Exit. At North Park Drive, take a right. Follow this to the boat trailer parking area, which will be on your left.

From Baltimore & Washington, DC Take Interstate 95 North to Delaware Memorial Bridge to Interstate 295 North to Exit 34 (Cherry Hill/Route 70 West). Proceed approximately 4 miles on Route 70 West to the Cuthbert Boulevard/Collingswood Exit. At North Park Drive, take a right. Follow this to the boat trailer parking area which will be on your left.

From Valley Forge & West Follow Interstate 76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) to Route 676 East to the Ben Franklin Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow Route 30 East to Route 70 East. Take 70 East to Cuthbert Boulevard (you will pass Bishop Eustace High School on your right). Make a right onto Cuthbert Boulevard and follow this to North Park Drive. Make a right onto North Park Drive. The boat trailer parking area will be on your left.
