Women's Varsity Eight Wins Knecht Cup

Collingswood, N.J. - The UMass women's rowing team won the varsity eight competition at the Knecht Cup in Collingswood, N.J., on Sunday. The Minutewomen boat crossed the finish line with a a time of 6:50.00, rowing into a strong head wind. Boston College was second and Buffalo was third.
"The team performed very well, " said head coach Jim Dietz. "It was a good rehearsal for us to get to know and row the same course that we will be racing on next weekend at the A-10's."
Next Saturday (April 24), the Massachusetts Rowing Team returns to Collingswood, N.J., for the Atlantic 10 Championships. UMass will be shooting for its ninth consecutive title.
