ON TAP: The University of Massachusetts baseball team (10-10, 2-4 Atlantic 10) heads to Saint Joseph's (7-29, 2-7 Atlantic 10) this weekend for a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series on Latshaw-McCarthy Field at Elmwood Park. The Minutemen, who sport a robust .309 team batting average, enter the game having split a doubleheader at Connecticut. The Saint Joseph's Hawks took one of three games against George Washington in their last time out. The victory was SJU's second of the year at home.

SERIES HISTORY: Saturday's game will be the 66th match up between UMass and Saint Joseph's with the Minutemen holding a 52-13 lead in an all-time series that began in 1984. The teams last met in 2003 with UMass taking two out of three games in the final home series at Lorden Field.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Saint Joseph's lost 10 of its first 11 games of the season including a 26-4 loss at Delaware on Feb. 29. More recently, SJU defeated GW, 15-12 on Apr. 10. The head coach of the Hawks is Jim Ertel who is in his eighth season with the program. Saint Joseph's is led offensively, by senior second baseman Jason Tarewicz who enters the weekend with a team-leading 43 hits and a .374 batting average. Sophomore shortstop Ryan Stadanlick leads the team with three homeruns and 29 RBI, but carries a .205 batting average. On the mound, freshman righty Adriano Petrutz (2-2, 4.28 ERA) holds the lowest ERA among the starters and has stuck out 27 batters in 33.2 innings pitched. Junior lefty Ryan Hoagey (1-4, 5.05 ERA) has totaled team-highs with 43 strikeouts, 51.2 innings pitched and a pair of complete games. Junior righty Al Braun (1-3, 8.15 ERA) has started eight games and allowed a team-high 35 earned runs over 38.2 innings.

HEAD COACH Mike Stone: Now in his 17th season as UMass' head coach Mike Stone owns an overall record of 509-402-4 (.558), including a 455-312-2 (.592) mark at the helm of the Minutemen. Stone guided UMass to NCAA Tournament appearances during the 1995 and 1996 seasons, and was a three-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year selection in 1994, 1995 and 1996. In addition, Stone's Minutemen have won the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season or Eastern Division title eight times in the last 10 years, while claiming a pair of Atlantic 10 Tournament titles. A 1982 UMass graduate, Stone began his head coaching career with a five year stint at the University of Vermont.

STONE GETS No. 500: Already the all-time winningest coach in UMass baseball history, Mike Stone picked up career win No. 500 with a 6-5 decision at Rider on March 7, 2004. Just the second coach in UMass athletics history to accomplish the feat, Stone also ranks as the winningest active Division I head coach in New England.
