Men's Track and Field Competes at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team competed in the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., Friday and Saturday March 26-27.
Senior captain John O'Neil (North Reading, Mass.) set a new personal best in the 400-meter dash with his clocking of 49.48. O'Neil finished 50th overall. Junior James Godinho (Sandwich, Mass.) also finished well in the 400-meter dash with his time of 49.57, good for 55th-place and a new personal best. Junior Joseph McCormack (Wrentham, Mass.) also set a new personal best in the 400-meter with his run of 49.92, finishing in 68th place. Junior Andy McCarron (Lunenberg, Mass.) ran a 15:41.76 in the 5,000-meter, good for a 19th-place finish, while sophomore Ryan Corbett (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished 21st in the 5,000-meter with his time of 15:46.37. Graduate student Kwesi Frimpong-Boateng (Accra, Ghana) placed third in the 100-meter dash finals with a time of 10.54.
Junior Henry Smith (Ellington, Conn.) placed 19th in the triple jump with a mark of 45' 0-1/2". Junior Mike Carr (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished 10th in the javelin with a throw of 188' 8".
The minutemen will be back in action next Saturday, April 3 in New Haven, Conn.
