Brooke Campbell Named Dinn Brothers/UMass Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts women's basketball senior froward Brooke Campbell (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the Dinn Brothers/UMass Athlete of the Week. Campbell will be honored at this week's Sports Luncheon to be held at 12:00 on Wednesday in Campus Center Room 1009.
Campbell averaged 9.0 points and 11.7 rebounds as the Minutewomen went 3-0 this past week and have now won five straight games. Campbell posted double-doubles at the beginning of the week against Toledo and Hofstra and had three straight double-doubles as well. Campbell, who was also the A-10 Player of the Week, had 11 points and 13 rebounds against Toledo last Monday at the Mullins Center. Then against Hofstra on Thursday, Campbell had 12 points and 14 boards. She followed that up with four points, eight rebounds and a career-high five assists on Sunday at Siena. Campbell also added a blocked shot and five steals on the week.
UMass has now won five games in a row for the first time in two years. The Minutewomen are also 4-0 on the road for the first time since the 1979-80 season. They will now enjoy a 17-day break for the holidays and final exams before heading to College Park, Md., Dec. 28-29, for the Terrapin Classic. The Minutewomen will face No. 19/21 Maryland in the first game at 7:00 p.m. Elon and Marshall are also participating in the tournament.
