Two Swimmers Earn Weekly Conference Awards

AMHERST, Mass. - Two University of Massachusetts swimmers have earned weekly conference accolades, announced by the Atlantic 10 Conference this afternoon. Junior Dylan Smith (Timomium, Md.) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Performer of the Week, while freshman Evan Swisher (N. Bennington, Vt.) was selected as the A-10 Rookie of the Week.
Smith's victories came in the 200-yard fly and 100-yard fly events, as he posted winning times of 1:54.13 and 52.16, respectively. Swisher took first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:52.58, while finishing second in the 100-yard back by only three-hundreths of a second, in a time of 53.71. Swisher also swam the first leg on the 200-yard medley relay team that finished second, registering a time of 1:39.27.
The UMass men's swimming and diving teams will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 18 as they travel to Southern Connecticut State for a dual meet, while the women have the weekend off. Both teams will then head to Boston College for a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 24.
