Field Hockey Falls To No. 13 Northeastern, 10-0

BOSTON, Mass. -Mari Creatini and Liane Dixon each recorded a hat trick as the 13th-ranked Northeastern field hockey team (7-3) defeated the University of Massachusetts, 10-0, this afternoon. UMass junior goalkeeper Christine Tocco (Reading, Mass.) made 15 saves in the loss as the Minutewomen dropped their fifth straight game and fell to 2-7 on the season.
The 10 goals for the Huskies tied a school record. Junior Mari Creatini, who leads the nation in scoring with 18 goals and seven assists for 43 points, tallied her third hat trick of the season and assisted on another goal to lead the way for the Husky offense. Junior Liane Dixon also notched a hat trick, while redshirt freshman Natalie Singelais scored twice. Senior Sara Webber assisted on three goals for the Huskies.
Tocco, who entered the game fourth in the country in saves, recorded 15 stops this afternoon. UMass was out-shot 30-0, and the Huskies held the edge in penalty corners, 15-1.
Massachusetts continues its three-game road swing on Saturday. The Minutewomen will head south for a 1:00 p.m. game at No. 11 UConn.
