AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts baseball team, regular season champions of the Atlantic 10 Conference East Division, will face West Division regular season champion Richmond this week for the Atlantic 10 Tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Minutemen and the Spiders will play a best two-out-of-three series from Thursday through Saturday, May 22-24, at Pitt Field in Richmond, Va. Games will be played on Thursday and Friday at 1:00 p.m., with the final game taking place Saturday at 12:00 p.m. if necessary.

UMass (26-17 overall, 14-7 Atlantic 10) earned a spot in this weekend's series by posting a 2-0 record in Atlantic 10 Tournament action last weekend at Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich, Conn. The Minutemen defeated George Washington 3-1 in their opening game on May 16, then posted an 8-5 victory over Xavier on May 17 to capture the winner's bracket.

Richmond (44-13, 19-4 Atlantic 10) came out of the loser's bracket to earn the other spot in this weekend's series, and will serve as the host due to a better regular season conference record. The Spiders dropped their opening game last week to Xavier, 2-1 on May 16, but came back to defeat both George Washington (8-2) and Xavier (6-3) on May 17 to take the loser's bracket.
