Sophomore Rashaun Freeman was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's basketball sophomore Rashaun Freeman (Schenectady, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for his performance in UMass' 67-60 victory over Maine.

Freeman scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting and also had team-highs of six rebounds and three steals. The award marks the third time this season he has earned the honor and marks the fourth time out of six awards a Minuteman has earned the recognition.

On the season, Freeman is averaging a team-leading 15.6 ppg and 8.3 rebounds.

UMass men's basketball (5-4) returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 30 as it travels to Connecticut for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
