AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts baseball head coach Mike Stone released the 2004 UMass baseball schedule today with the Minutemen beginning the 2004 campaign with a doubleheader at Rider on March 6.

After three games against the Broncs, UMass will head to Tampa, Fla., for a trio of games against South Florida March 12-14. The Minutemen will also make their annual stop at the Baseball Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for a handful of games March 16-20.

UMass' home opener is scheduled to be on March 25 at 3:00 p.m. against Hartford, with Atlantic 10 Conference play slated to begin that weekend, March 27, at George Washington.

The Minutemen will also participate in the Beanpot Classic beginning on April 20 at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass., with Boston College, Harvard and Northeastern. The Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament will once again be held at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn., where the Minutemen look to return to the championship game for the second consecutive season.

UMass baseball finished the 2003 season in first-place of the Atlantic 10 East Division with a record of 26-19 (14-7 Atlantic 10). Head coach Mike Stone, entering his 17th season at UMass, currently holds a 499-392-4 mark as a head coach making his next win career No. 500.
