Five Minutemen Named Academic All-Atlantic 10

AMHERST, Mass. - Five members of the University of Massachusetts football team have been selected to the 2003 Academic All-Atlantic 10 Conference squad. A total of 65 student athletes were named to the team, including 32 on offense and 33 on defense. To be eligible, a student athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 and be a starter or key reserve.
The five Minutemen named to the team were senior defensive end Mike Haynes (Attleboro, Mass.), senior linebacker Mark Kimener (Oakton, Va.), senior quarterback Jeff Krohn (Phoenix, Ariz.), sophomore linebacker L.A. Love (Byran, Texas) and redshirt freshman linebacker Ola Sanusi (Detroit, Mich.).
The Minutemen finished the 2003 season with an overall record of 10-3, and advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs for the sixth time in school history. UMass also won a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference title with an 8 1 mark in league games, good the for the 19th conference championship in school history.
