McKenzie Named To ECAC All-Star Team

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts senior strong safety Anton McKenzie (Medford, N.Y.) has been selected to the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star team. This marks the fourth postseason honor McKenzie has received this season, as he was previously named a third team All-American by The Sports Network, in addition to being a first team All-Atlantic 10 Conference and All-New England selection.
McKenzie ended the year ranked third on the team with 106 total tackles, including 79 solo stops. He also had 11 tackles for loss, five pass break ups, four sacks, three quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble, while starting all 12 games he played in for the Minutemen. For his career, McKenzie totaled 320 tackles, which ranks him ninth in school history, while his 234 solo stops place him seventh all-time.
The Minutemen finished the 2003 season with an overall record of 10-3, and advanced to the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs for the sixth time in school history. UMass also won a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference title with an 8 1 mark in league games, good the for the 19th conference championship in school history.
