Swimmer Earns A-10 Rookie Of The Week Honor

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman swimmer Evan Swisher (N. Bennington, Vt.) was awarded A-10 Rookie of the Week, announced today by the Atlantic 10 Conference. Swisher posted a two-win performance in the 156-138 Minuteman victory over St. John's on Saturday.
Swisher won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 53.40, his season-best, which is also good enough to lead the team. He then won the 200-yard backstroke event, registering a mark of 1:52.93, another season-best and team-leading time. Swisher also swam the first leg on the second-place 200-yard medley relay, who recorded a time of 1:35.04.
The UMass men's and women's swimming teams will be back in action December 5-7, as they head to New Haven, Conn. for the Nutmeg Invitational. Both diving teams will travel to Princeton, N.J., to compete in the Princeton Invitational.
