AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts hockey coach Don Cahoon announced the signing of Kevin Jarman (Aurora, Ontario) to a National Letter of Intent for the early signing period. Jarman will join Garrett Summerfield (Endicott, N.Y.) as newcomers on next year's squad. Summerfield signed a National Letter of Intent last summer, but opted to play another year of junior hockey with the Capital District Selects of the Eastern Junior Hockey League.

Jarman is a product of the Stoufville Spirit of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. Jarman follows in the footsteps of another Stoufville Spirit player, Darcy King, who played four years at UMass after spending two years with the Spirit.

Jarman has been impressive so far with the Spirit this season, scoring 31 points (15 g, 16 a) in 19 games. He had offers from Northeastern, Mercyhurst, Maine and Cornell.

"Jarman has got a great upside. With his size and age (born in 1985), he has room to grow and get stronger and faster. He is a very good skater and makes great decisions on the ice. He is a great two-way player that has the ability to score a lot of points. We are very happy to get a player of his caliber and look forward to him playing for us in the years to come."
