Altomare Wins Atlantic 10 Honor

AMHERST, Mass. - Enzo Altomare (Derby, Conn.) was named Atlantic 10 Conference co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It marks the third time in four weeks that a Minuteman has won the award.
Altomare, a senior goalkeeper, posted one of his best weekends of his career in UMass' sweep of Temple and Saint Joseph's. Over the weekend, Altomare stopped 13-of-14 shots (a save percentage of .928), including a career-high seven saves in UMass' 3-0 win over Temple. He is 10-1-1 on the season and hasn't lost since a Sept. 6 loss to Boston University. For the season, Altomare has a .754 save percentage and a GAA of 1.24. He has four shutouts on the season and his 10 wins ranks tied for fifth on the UMass single-season chart. He has been especially solid in the Atlantic 10 Conference, posting a 7-0-1 record, a GAA of 0.87 and a save percentage of .811.
UMass continues its quest to an Atlantic 10 Conference title on Friday, Nov. 1, with a 2:00 p.m. game at George Washington. The Minutemen are 11-4-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Minutemen are ranked third in the latest adidas / NSCAA New England Regional poll and are 28th in the College Soccer News' top 30 poll. UMass is one-and-a-half games ahead of Rhode Island in the conference standings and are unbeaten (9-0-1) in the last 10 games.
