Where Are They Now?

Over the years, the University of Massachusetts has sent more than 60 players into professional baseball, with 18 former Minutemen advancing to the major leagues. Included in the list are two-time All-Star pitcher Jeff Reardon and 1979 American League Cy Young Award winner Mike Flanagan. During head coach Mike Stone's tenure at UMass, 33 players have gone on to sign professional contracts. Here is a look at former Minutemen presently in the professional ranks:

Frank Curreri (C, 2003-2004), Mobile BayBears (AA, Southern League, Arizona Diamondbacks)

Nick Gorneault (OF, 1998-2001), Round Rock Express (AAA, Pacific Coast League, Houston Astros)

Greg LaRocca (3B, 1992-1994), Orix Buffaloes (Japanese Pacific League)

Chad Paronto (RHP, 1994-1996), Round Rock Express (AAA, Pacific Coast League, Houston Astros)

Matt Torra (RHP, 2003-2005), Tucson Sidewinders (AAA, Pacific Coast League, Arizona Diamondbacks)

Ron Villone (LHP, 1991-1992), St. Louis Cardinals
