AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team made its home debut with a 223-73 win over visiting Boston University this afternoon at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.
Sophomore Conner Townsend (Memphis, Tenn.) set a pool record in the 200-yard fly as he won the event in a time of 1:53.26.
The Minutemen had three multiple event winners led by senior Chad Arnold (Mohnton, Pa.) with wins in the 50-yard free (21.75) and 100-yard free (47.12), senior Rob Bellamy (Columbia, Md.) with wins in the 200-yard free (1:41.85) and 200-yard back (1:53.57), and sophomore Pete Tawczynski (Holden, Mass.) with wins in the 100-yard breast (59.34) and 200-IM (1:55.04).
UMass returns to action next week as it hosts St. John's on Saturday, Nov. 17, for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet.
