AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass.), senior Billy Brown (Fullerton, Calif.) and sophomore Tommy Keane (Melrose, Mass.) each earned individual victories as the University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team fell to Rutgers, 160-122, on Senior Day, this afternoon at UMass' Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. Today marked the last home meet for seniors Arsenault, Brown, Joe Martin (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Mike Sabina (Avon, Mass.). UMass is now 9-4 on the season.
Arsenault earned first-place finishes in the 100 free (46.25) and the 100 fly (49.56), while Brown won the 200 breast (2:07.90) and Keane won the 200 free (1:44.83). Brown finished second in the 100 breast (59.31) and Keane placed second in the 500 free (4:43.28).
Junior Ryan Fisher (Santa Barbara, Calif.) placed second in the 50 free with a time of 20.96, which ranks sixth all-time at UMass in this event, while sophomore Justin Houck (Wyomissing, Pa.) had the second fastest time on the team for the season in the 100 back with a second-place time of 52.68. Freshman diver Logan Alomar (Silver Spring, Md.) finished second in both diving events with a score of 238.50 in the one-meter and 267.30 in the three meter.
The Minutemen return to the pool on Saturday, Feb. 3, when they travel to the Bronx, N.Y., to take on Atlantic 10 foe Fordham at 1:00 p.m.
