AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior Chrissy Millbauer (Easton, Conn.) has been selected by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a 2000 NSCA All-American Athlete.
Millbauer was the only field hockey player in the nation to receive the award. "Chrissy came back from a torn ACL as a sophomore and increased her squat by 25 pounds from before the injury," said UMass strength coach Bob Otrando. "Pound for pound, she's probably the strongest female athlete we have here at UMass."
Millbauer was a key ingredient in the success of the UMass field hockey program over the past four seasons. In her four-year career, the Minutewomen won four straight Atlantic 10 titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament each year. After three years a reserve, she moved into a starting role in her senior season and finished fifth on the team in scoring.
This prestigious award program recognizes outstanding male and female athletes who have excelled in their strength training and conditioning. Selections are also based on community involvement, academic achievement and leadership qualities.
