Women's Swimming & Diving Falls To UConn, 194-106

STORRS, Conn. -- The University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team fell to Connecticut by a score of 194-106, Saturday afternoon at UConn's Wolff-Zackin Natatorium. UMass is now 5-2 on the season, while the Huskies improve to 7-1.
Junior Becky Hunnewell (Sandwich, Mass.) won the 200 back with a time of 2:07.35 and junior Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.) placed first in the 100 fly with a time of 59.09. UMass' 200 free relay team of sophomore Lizzy Boyle (Darien, Conn.), sophomore Molly Buckley (Taunton, Mass.), Kazanjian and junior Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.) won the event with a team season best time of 1:38.65.
Freshman Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass.) finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.43, which moves her to second on UMass' all-time chart for this event. Dettloff placed second in the 1000 free with a team season best time of 10:29.85. Sophomore Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) finished second in the one-meter (222.75) and three-meter (239.55) diving events.
The Minutewomen return to the pool on Jan. 6, when they compete at the Sarasota Invitational, in Sarasota, Fla.
