Amherst, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts junior Kristin Cisowski (Salem, N.H.) is set to compete at the Cross Country NCAA Championship, Monday, Nov. 20, in Ames, Iowa. Cisowski is the second woman in school history to qualify for the NCAA national meet.

Cisowski earned the spot in the Championship by finishing 16th at the Northeast Regional with a time of 21:11 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Cisowski receives the NCAA spot for finishing in the top four runners from non-qualifying teams at the regional meet.

"Kristen got off the line quick and it really looked like she was racing," said head coach Julie LaFreniere. "All of September she seemed to be participating but not competing. She let all the runners from ranked schools run ahead of her. At New Enlands she stepped it up and at the A-10's she really stepped it up."
