AMHERST, Mass. -- Junior Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.), freshman Christen Dexter (Centerville, Mass.) and junior Becky Hunnewell (Sandwich, Mass.) each won two events, as the University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team defeated Northeastern, 156-144, Sunday afternoon at Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. With the win, the Minutewomen improve to 4-0 on the season and 10-9 all-time versus the Huskies.
Dettloff won the 500 (5:06.48) and the 1000 free (10:38.72), Dexter won the 100 (1:07.53) and the 200 breast (2:25.42), and Hunnewell won the 200 back (2:07.98) and the 200 IM (2:10.99).
Other UMass winners included freshman Lauren Rowell (Hamburg, N.Y.) in the 100 back (1:00.37), sophomore Molly Buckley (Taunton, Mass.) in the 50 free (24.54) and junior Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.) in the 100 free (53.58). The 200 medley relay team of L. Rowell, Dexter, Kazanjian and sophomore Lizzy Boyle (Darien, Conn.) finished first with a time of 1:49.94.
Northeastern's 400 free relay team of Jesse Coxson, Kelly Colburn, Jill Vance and Jennifer Bradley set a pool record with a time of 3:35.80, while Emily White set a pool record in the 100 fly with a time of 58.40.
The Minutewomen return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 18, when they travel to Jamaica, N.Y., to take on St. John's at 1:00 p.m.
