Football Comes Back To Defeat Northeastern, 21-16

BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) - Kevin Quinlan ran for 241 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns as Massachusetts came from behind to defeat Northeastern 21-16 Saturday.
Massachusetts (3-2, 2-1 Atlantic 10) trailed 10-7 and was about to try a potential game-tying field goal early in the fourth period, but Northeastern (3-3, 0-3) was penalized for holding, giving the Minutemen a first down at the 3-yard line. Quinlan scored on the next play.
Quinlan, filling in for the injured Marcel Shipp, sprinted 50 yards for his second score with 50 seconds to play.
Northeastern jumped to a 7-0 lead when Andy Alsup ran back the opening kickoff 93 yards.
Midway through the second period, Massachusetts was driving inside Northeastern's 10-yard line when quarterback Kelly Siebert fumbled after being tackled by Northeastern's Excell Walker, who also recovered. Siebert was taken out of the game but was not seriously hurt, and returned.
Northeastern drove 93 yards and Joe Connolly kicked a 24-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead.
Massachusetts made it 10-7 at halftime when Siebert ran 8 yards for a touchdown with 16 seconds left in the half.
Siebert completed 14 of 24 passes for 131 yards. Northeastern's Logan Galli completed 14 of 25 passes for 146 yards before being hurt late in the game.
Northeastern's L.J. McKanas rushed for 163 yards on 16 carries.
