UMass Men?s Swimming Falls To UMBC 121-116

AMHERST, Mass. ? Despite two individual first place finishes each from junior Chris Arsenault (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Ed Hefferon (Stratford, Conn.), the Minutemen fell to the University of Maryland Baltimore County by a close score of 116-121.
Arsanault recorded victories in the 200 yard freestyle (1:42.06) and the 200 yard butterfly (1:54.35). His time in the 200 freestyle is the fastest for UMass this season and bests his own previous top time of 1:42.29. Arsenault?s 200 butterfly mirrored his freestyle results - it too is UMass? fastest time and an improvement on his old mark of 1:55.40. Diving stand-out Hefferon bested his previous UMass top scores with marks of 327.75 and 360.9 in the 1 meter and 3-meter diving, respectively. Other wins came from freshman Tommy Keane (Melrose, Mass) in the 500 yard freestyle (4:43.41) and the 800 yard freestyle relay team of Tommy Keane, Anthony Bianchini (Westfield, Mass), Justin Houck (Wyomissing, PA), and Chris Arsenault.
The Minutemen travel to New Jersey next week to swim against the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers January 29 at 2:00pm.
