WHAT?S NEXT: The Minutemen host their final two games of the regular season this coming weekend at Totman Field. On Friday, UMass battles La Salle at 3:30 p.m. The Minutemen defeated the Explorers 2-1 in Philadelphia last year. UMass leads the all-time series 4-1 and has won the last four meetings. On Sunday the Minutemen will honor their seniors as it will be Senior Day at Totman Field when UMass hosts Fordham. Fordham won last year?s meeting in the Bronx by a score of 3-1. The Rams lead the all-time series 3-1, the lone UMass win coming in Fordham?s last visit to Amherst in 1997.
MINUTEMEN SHOOT DOWN FLYERS IN DOUBLE OT: Fred Kinateder (Waukesha, Wis.) scored the game-winning goal off a rebound off of a goalpost at 110:05 to give UMass a 2-1 double overtime win over defending Atlantic 10 champion Dayton on Sunday afternoon at Baujuan Field. Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) also scored for UMass, his 12th goal of the season. Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made four saves in the win. UMass was outshot 25-8 in the contest, but yielded just one goal, that coming on a header off a corner kick with just nine seconds left in the first half.
XAVIER SNAPS WIN STREAK AT FOUR: On Friday at Corcoran Field in Cincinnati, UMass saw its four-game losing streak ended at the hands of the Xavier Musketeers. UMass jumped out in front very early on, as Adam Black scored just 23 seconds into the contest. Kinateder added the game?s second goal at 4:55, but ultimately, it proved not to be enough, as Xavier ran off three goals, including the game-winner with just under twelve minutes to go, to steal the win. Todd Fowler made three saves in defeat.
THE RACE TO THE ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT: With just four games to go, the race is on for the four berths in the Atlantic 10 Tournament in Dayton (Nov. 5-7). As of now, six teams are within three games of first place in the Atlantic 10 after seven conference matches. Here is a look at those six teams and who they?ll be playing down the stretch (Conference record, rank in parentheses):

10 WINS: For the 10th time in school history, UMass has won 10 games, getting its 10th of the season in the 2-1 win over Dayton. It is also the seventh time that UMass has won 10 or more games since Sam Koch took over as head coach in 1991. The school-record for wins in a season is 15, set in 1995. In addition, the Minutemen have won 10 of their last 13 games this season.
BLACK NETS 12th OF SEASON: Adam Black continues his torrid scoring pace, adding his 11th and 12th goals on the road trip. Black scored 23 seconds into the game at Xavier, and also had the first goal in the win over Dayton. Black?s 12 goals are the most by a UMass player since Mike Butler scored 12 in 1997.
ONE, TWO, ONE, TWO?: Adam Black and Fred Kinateder, first and second in both goals and points for UMass this season, were responsible for UMass? first and second goals, respectively, in both of UMass? games in Ohio this past week. Both players have established career highs in all three offensive categories, and each has scored three game-winning goals this season, Kinateder adding his third on Sunday.
HONORING THE SENIORS: UMass will honor its six seniors this Sunday when the Minutemen host Fordham at 1:00 p.m. Jon Burr (Springfield, Mass.), Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.), James Redmond (Springfield, Mass.), Jonathan Bibb (London, England), Todd Baron (Albertson, N.Y.) and Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) will play their final regular season game of their career on Sunday at Totman Field, and will be honored with a special, Senior Day, pre-game ceremony.
HEAD COACH SAM KOCH: Now in his ninth season at the helm of the Minutemen, Sam Koch (Colby ?79) is the second winningest coach in UMass history, behind only Lawrence Briggs (123 wins, 1930-67). Koch, who came to UMass in the fall of 1991, has complied a record of 93-62-15 (.591) during his tenure in Amherst. Prior to coming to UMass, Koch served as head coach at Stanford from 1984-89, compiling a record of 58-53-16 (.520). Koch?s overall career record is 151-115-31 (.561). Koch is scheduled to coach career game #299 this Sunday against Fordham at Totman Field, and will hit the 300-mark next Friday at Duquesne.
