Sean Collins enters his second year as assistant coach of the swimming and diving program after having a steller collegiate career for the Minutemen.

Collins graduated in May 2004 with a degree in exercise science.

The native of Stoughton, Mass., finished his career ranked sixth all-time at UMass in both the 100-yard breast (57.84 seconds) and sixth in the 200-yard breast (2:05.71). He was named to the Atlantic 10 Second-Team All-Conference Squad as a senior in 2004.

For his career, he posted five top-10 individual finishes at the league championships.

A four-year letterwinner at St. John[apos]s (Mass.) Prep, Collins placed second in the 50-yard free and was a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team at the Division I state meet. As a Senior:

Named to the Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 Team ... finished his career ranked sixth all-time at UMass in the 200-yard breast (2:05.71) and sixth in the 100-yard breast (57.84) ... swam the second leg of the A-10 Champion 200-yard freestyle relay team ... also at the A-10 Championships, took fifth in the 100 breast (58.49), eighth in the 50 freestyle (21.68), and second in the 200 breast (2:05.71) - the sixth fast time in the 200 breast in UMass history ... his time of 57.84 in the 100 breast prelim race at the A-10 meet also stands as the sixth fastest mark is school history.

As a Junior:

Placed second in the 200-yard free-relay (1:23.76), sixth in the 200-yard breast (2:07.91), and seventh in both the 100-yard breast (59.26) and the 200-yard IM (1:55.15) at the Atlantic 10 Championships...ranked second in the 200-yard breast (2:07.91, A-10 Championships, third in the 100-yard breast (59.21, A-10 Championships), fourth in the 200-yard IM (1:55.15, A-10 Championships) and seventh in the 50-yard free (22.52, Brown Invitational)...named to the UMass Athletic Director[apos]s Honor Roll.

As a Sophomore:

Placed third at the Atlantic 10 Championships in the 200-yard breast (2:07.01) ... ranked second on the UMass team in the 200-yard breast (2:07.01 at A-10[apos]s), third in the 100-yard breast (58.88 at A-10[apos]s), fifth in the 50-yard free (22.02 at A-10[apos]s), eighth in the 100-yard free (49.03 vs. Rutgers), and 10th in the 200-yard free (1:49.44 vs. Rutgers).

As a Freshman:

Ranked fifth on the team in the 500-yard free (4:51.82 at Atlantic 10[apos]s) and 100-yard breast (1:01.05 at A-10[apos]s) ... placed 10th at the A-10[apos]s in the 1,650-yard free (17:24.64).

Before UMass:

Four-year letterwinner at St. John[apos]s (Mass.) Prep ... placed second in the 50-yard free and was a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team at the Division I state meet ... team captain as a senior ... received Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors ... earned Catholic Conference All-Star accolades ... was named team MVP and received the Coaches[apos] Award ... also lettered in water polo.
