Kirsten Britton began her tenure at the University of Massachusetts in February 2018 as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics – Sport Administration and Senior Women Administrator. Britton serves as an essential member of the Department of Athletics Executive Management Team and oversees the day-to-day varsity sport operations of the Department of Athletics.

In June 2022, Britton was elevated to Deputy AD – Sport Administration/SWA. In addition to directing sport administration and facilities/event operations, Britton serves as the department’s Chief Administrative Officer, a role built to provide oversight for all administrative aspects of Massachusetts Athletics. Britton also oversees the department’s human resources, student-athlete code of conduct and serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics.

Britton is the sport administrator for the football, women’s basketball and softball programs as well.

Prior to her appointment at UMass, Britton served as the Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities, Operations and Events at Holy Cross. Britton was a guiding member of the Holy Cross athletics senior staff with primary responsibilities of providing leadership to the facilities, operations and event staff. She provided oversight of the $95 million Hart Center Expansion & Renovation project and managed all athletic facilities, game operations and outside for events for Holy Cross, in addition to administrative supervision of the cross country and track and field programs.

Before her time in Worcester, Britton worked at the University of Connecticut from 2012 to 2016, where she served as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Event Management. While at UConn, Britton provided leadership, planning and event management for 24 varsity sport programs. Britton acted as the Tournament Director for the NCAA Women’s Basketball First and Second Rounds in Storrs, Conn. as well as providing all operational logistics for the UConn women’s basketball Final Four appearances in 2013, 2014 and 2015. While at UConn, Britton also served as a member of the NCAA Field Hockey Committee.

Prior to her time at Connecticut, Britton was the Assistant Director of Event Management at Boston College for six years, where she oversaw the event management for the Eagles’ 18 varsity sport programs. She began her athletics administration career as an intern at the University at Albany athletics department. 

Britton is a 2003 graduate of Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Athletic Administration at Springfield College in 2007.
