Matt Clark joins the UMass coaching staff as an assistant coach after an outstanding career for the Minutemen. He will assist both the men[apos]s and women[apos]s cross country and track and field programs in all aspects of training. Clark was a three time Academic All-Conference member in his career as well a member of the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I team. He was also named to the 2004-05 Indoor and Outdoor A-10 All-Academic Team. In 2003-04 he was named to the league[apos]s indoor academic all-conference team. Primarily an 800 meter and 1,000 meter specilist for UMass, Clark ran the anchor leg of the silver-medal distance medley relay team at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. Clark earned his bachelor[apos]s degree in journalism in 2006.

2005-06: Finished 92nd overall at the Atlantic 10 XC Championship (10/29) in 27:24.7 ... finished 180th overall at the New England Championships (10/8) in 27:39 ... finished 203rd overall at the Paul Short Invitational (10/1) in 26:10.1 ... finished 10th overall vs. Maine/Vermont (9/17) in 27:24 ... finished 51st overall at the Dartmouth Invitational (9/10) in 27:19.20 ... At the New Hampshire Invitational (1/21), placed 9th (2:05.76) in the 800 meter ... At the Boston Indoor Games (1/27), placed 17th (2:01.64) in the 800 meter ... Helped the 4x800-meter relay team to a fifth place finish at the Rhode Island Mega Meet (2/4) ... Placed 95th in the 800-meter (1:59.63) at the Boston University Invitational (2/11) ... Helped the distance medley relay team to a second place finish (10:30.94) at the A-10 Championships ... At the New England Championships (2/25) helped the 4x800 relay team finish 6th (7:46.60) and the Distance Medley finish 5th (10:08.90).

2004 Cross Country: Named team tri-captain ... earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors ... competed in all seven races for the Minutemen ... posted three top-10 overall finishes ... top finish occurred at the Blue Devil Mini-Meet (10/23) where he was fifth overall (15:49) ... also finished eighth at the Syracuse Classic (9/25) completing the race in 27:46.40 ... was among the top-five UMass runners on six occasions including at the NCAA Northeast Regional (11/13) where he finished second among his teammates (33:42.7). 2003-04: Named to the Atlantic 10 Indoor Academic All-Conference team ... ran primarily the 800-meter and 1,500-meter races during the outdoor campaign ... recorded his fastest time of the season in the 800 meters (1:59.63) at the Brown Invitational ... top-time of the season in the 1,500 meters was at the UConn Invitational (4/17) ... finished eighth in the mile (4:27.65) at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship meet (2/21) ... posted a top-time in the 1,000 meters (2:31.11) at the Boston University FasTrack (2/16) meet ... during the cross country season, he competed at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship (11/17) finishing the race in 33:59 ... at the Atlantic 10 Championship (11/2) ran a 27:50.1 ... posted one top-20 finish completing the UMass Invitational (9/13) in 25:56 (17th). 2002-03: Ranked third on the team in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters ... finished 15th at the A-10 Outdoor Championship in the 1,500 meters ... ran on the 4x400 meter and 4x800 meter relay teams ... named to A-10 Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll. 2001-02: Posted team[apos]s third-fastest 800-meter run time during the outdoor season at 1:56.25 ... New England Championships qualifier in 800 meters during outdoor campaign ... ran on UMass[apos] 4x800 meter relay team that earned bronze medal at A-10 Outdoor Championships ... during indoor season, recorded UMass[apos] second-fastest 800-meter run (1:57.70) and third-best 1,000M run (2:30.64) ... placed fifth in the 1,000-meter run at the New England Indoor Championships in 2:30.64 ...
