Duo Earns UMass Co-Athlete of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Men's lacrosse player Kevin Leveille (Delmar, N.Y.) and softball player Emily Robustelli (Stamford, Conn.) were both selected as winners of the Dinn Brothers / UMass Athlete of the Week, announced on Wednesday. It is the second time Leveille won the award and first for Robustelli.
Leveille scored three goals, all in the second half, in leading UMass to a 9-6 win over Hofstra in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. His first goal of the day gave UMass a 5-4 lead five minutes after halftime. His second and third goals stopped Hofstra rallies and pushed the lead back to three at 8-5 and 9-6. Leveille now has a career-best 51 points on the season and moved into 11th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 159 career points.
Robustelli batted .600 (6-10)with four runs scored, two doubles, one home run and two RBI en route to Most Outstanding Player honors as the Minutewomen won the 2003 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship on their home field. Robustelli was 1-3 and scored the only run of the game as UMass edged Temple, 1-0, in Saturday's championship game. On Thursday against Fordham, she was 2-3 and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning as UMass came back to win 3-1. On Friday against Temple, she was 3-4 with a home run to lead off the game (her fourth leadoff four-bagger of the season) a double, a stolen base and two runs scored.
Both the softball team and men's lacrosse team are competing in NCAA Tournaments this week.
