UMass Winter Athletes Garner Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Honors

Senior Mandy Mosby named Women's Gymnastics Student-Athlete of the Year.

AMHERST, Mass. - Ten University of Massachusetts winter athletes were honored recently with Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors in their respective sports.

Among those cited, is senior Mandy Mosby (Lilburn, Ga.), who was also honored as the Atlantic 10 Women's Gymnastics Student-Athlete of the Year. Mosby was one of six finalists for the prestigious American Award, which is awarded to the nation's top female gymnast. She is a three-time Coaches Academic All-America selection and a two-time GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. She placed ninth in the all-around at this year's NCAA Region V Championships and captured third place in the same event at the 2000 Bell Atlantic Atlantic 10 Gymnastics Championships with a career-best and UMass all-time record 39.375. She ranks in the top three all-time in school history in the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise. She carries a 3.79 GPA in Management.

Robin Velona (Belmont, Mass. / Belmont H.S.), 3.75 GPA in Psychology
