AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse midfielder Jeff Seals (Long Valley, N.J.) and women's gymnast Katie Teft (Grand Rapids, Mich.) were named the WHMP/UMass Co-Athletes of the Week today at the weekly sports luncheon.

Seals, a senior and the primary face-off man for the Minutemen, won 19 of 24 face-offs (.792) on Saturday as UMass defeated Navy, 11-8. It was the first victory for the Minutemen over the Midshipmen in school history. Seals also scooped up a team-high 11 ground balls and won 12 of the last 13 face-offs in the game. For the season, Seals has won an astounding 49 out of 75 face-offs for a .653 winning percentage. The seventh-ranked Minutemen are now 3-0 and 2-0 in the ECAC, and host Albany on Saturday, March 17 at Garber Field.

Teft, a sophomore, took top honors for the second straight meet on the uneven bars with a 9.925 and also won the beam with a score of 9.80 as UMass defeated Atlantic 10 Conference rival Rhode Island, 194.725-193.700, on Saturday. Teft also placed first in the all-around with a 29.425. The Minutewomen, who sport an 8-6 record, close out their dual meet season on Saturday, March 17, when they host Yale on Senior Day at 4:00 p.m.
