University of Massachusetts women's basketball alumna Tamara Tatham helped Canada claim Pan Am Games gold over Team USA, 81-73, in front of a hometown crowd in Toronto Monday evening. The gold marks Canada's first in basketball on the men's or women's side and outperforms the squad previous best finish, a silver in the 1999 Games in Winnipeg. Recent UMass graduate and softball alumnae Quianna Diaz-Patterson is continuing her strong play with the Puerto Rico National Team. After playing well at the World Cup of Softball, the team tied for third at the Canadian Open where 'Q' earned an award for her play at second base.
She hasn't stopped yet, helping PR to a 1-1 record after two games of round robin play at the Pam Am Games in Toronto. On Monday, she went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI to lead the squad to a 11-5 win over the Dominican Republic.
The team will play three more games before the semifinals begin on Friday.
Former UMass standout Cady Lalanne started all seven games in Las Vegas (and three in Utah before that) and helped the San Antonio Spurs capture the NBA Summer League title on Monday, defeating the Suns 93-90.
Lalanne averaged 6.3 points and 4.7 boards in 19.2 minutes over the 10 games in the two summer events.

Izzo is on the Ohio Machine's roster, but is part of the college in-actives list and has not played yet in 2015. Manny has 41 points via 27 goals, including a two-pointer, and 13 assists as the Boston Cannons' leading scorer. Soudan is the head coach of the Rochester Rattlers, who are making their second consecutive postseason appearance with Soudan as the team leader.

Cady Lalanne played his first professional game on Monday, scoring 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four blocks in 26 minutes as the Spurs defeated Philadelphia 74-71 in Salt Lake City.
