Recent Massachusetts graduate and softball extraordinaire Quianna Diaz-Patterson spent a couple of weeks in Puerto Rico playing for a semi-pro team and then trying out for the national team. Well, she did it! QDP (@QuiBaby4) made the squad that will compete this summer in the World Cup of Softball in Irvine, Calif., the Canada Cup in Surrey, British Columbia and the Pan Am Games in Toronto.
She is part of a select group of former UMass players to play for their national teams, joining Brandice Balschmiter (USA). Davina Hernandez (also with Puerto Rico in the summer of 2007), Danielle Henderson (USA), Kaila Holtz (Canada), Candice Molinari (Italy) and Sara Plourde (Canada).
