Three Collect UMass Student-Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – A trio were selected as UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union this week. Yahmani McKayle of women's basketball, Marcus Banks Jr. of men's basketball and Michael Hrabal of hockey were all recognized for their performances last week at the UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday.

McKayle, a sophomore guard, led the Minutewomen to a 2-0 week with two big performances to close out the regular season. The guard totaled 25 points on 50 percent shooting against Akron, knocking down two threes in the contest. In the second game of the week against Buffalo, McKayle tallied 15 points, 13 of them in the second half, along with swiping a career-high seven steals in the matchup.

Banks Jr. had a stellar effort in win over Ohio, scoring 31 points, including 26 in the second half which marked his second game with 30+ points this season and second game with 25+ points in a half this season. With his six made threes, the graduate guard reached 107 on the season to tie UMass' program record. The Hampton, Virginia native Helped UMass end the game on a 22-9 run to clinch a MAC Tournament spot. Banks Jr. scored 10 of UMass' final 25 points and 26 of 57 in the second half.
Hrabal posted a 1.50 goals against average and a .952 save percentage in a 2-0-0 week for the Minutemen. The Prague, Czechia native stopped 60 of 63 shots as two of three goals allowed came on the power play. Hrabal made 34 saves in a 2-1 win over Boston College and turnedaside 26 shots at UNH.
