Hrabal Highlights UMass’ Trio Of Hockey East All-Stars As League’s Goaltender Of The Year

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts has landed a trio on the Hockey East All-Star teams, led by junior Michael Hrabal who was also chosen as the Hockey East Goaltender of the Year, the league announced on Friday. Hrabal earned a unanimous First Team All-Star nod, while junior forward Jack Musa and sophomore defenseman Larry Keenan were tabbed Second Team All-Stars.
Hrabal, who becomes the first Minuteman to be selected as the league's Goaltender of the Year, earns his third career All-Star recognition after being named to the third team as a sophomore and the second team as a freshman. The Prague, Czechia native finished Hockey East play with a record of 12-5-1 and four shutouts to go along with a 1.55 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. He led all Hockey East netminders in GAA and save percentage, finishing just .001 off the league record in the latter.
Overall on the year, Hrabal is 18-8-1 with a 2.02 GAA and 780 saves for a .935 save percentage over 27 games in net. He ranks second in the nation in save percentage, seventh in GAA and sixth in shutouts. A back-to-back winner of National Goaltender of the Month, Hrabal has collected four weekly awards from Hockey East thus far this season and was tabbed the Hockey East Player of the Month for January and the Goaltender of the Month for February.
Musa picks up his first career All-Star nod after registering 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 22 Hockey East games, an average of 0.86 points per-game. Overall on the season, the Orange Park, Florida native ranks tied for fifth in the league in points (33) on 15 goals and 18 assists over 32 contests, an average of 1.03 points per-game. He holds a +12 rating with two power-play goals, two shorthanded goals and one game winner.
Keenan, a first-time All-Star, appeared in all 24 league games and contributed five goals and nine assists for 14 points while helping the squad finish Hockey East play with the second-fewest goals allowed at 53. Overall on the year, the Midhurst, Ontario native has seen action in all 34 games and has logged 18 points (7g, 11a) with a +7 rating, two power-play goals a shorthanded tally and 43 blocks.
