Massachusetts Earns Hockey East's Charles E. Holt Sportsmanship Award For 2025-26

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has earned the Charlie Holt Sportsmanship Award for the fourth time in the past six seasons, Hockey East announced on Wednesday, beginning the league's postseason awards announcements.
Established in 1992, the Charles E. Holt Sportsmanship Award, named after the former University of New Hampshire head coach, is given to the team which receives the lowest average penalty minutes per-game over the course of regular season Hockey East play. The Minutemen have garnered the award for the sixth time in program history with an average of 6.29 penalty minutes per-game during conference action in 2025-26. UMass previously received the distinction in 2024-25 (6.7 PIM/gm), 2021-22 (7.58 PIM/gm), 2020-21 (9.5 PIM/gm), 2006-07 (10.8 PIM/gm) and 2001-02 (11.8 PIM/gm).
