Massachusetts Tennis Defeats Boston University, 5-2, For Third Straight Victory

The Minutewomen host Hofstra on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
WINCHESTER, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis earned its third consecutive victory with a 5-2 win over Boston University on the road.
UMass garnered the doubles point with wins at court No. 2 and No. 3. Partners Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye took down Blanka DeMicheli and Rhea Rai of Boston University, 6-1, at No. 2 doubles. The duo of Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich won 6-1 at the No. 3 slot over the Terriers' Madison Liu and Emily Zhao.
Ella Faessler and Renata Farima were leading 5-2 at No. 1 doubles before the match went unfinished.
In singles action, Farima made it a 2-0 match for the Minutewomen as she downed Zhao of Boston University, 6-1, 7-5, at court No.6. Fiona Ao kept the momentum going for Massachusetts with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Vailisa Borisova of the Terriers at the No. 4 position. Boston University's Nancy Liu earned a point with a 36-, 6-3, 6-3 win over Tye at court No. 2, before Madison Liu won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 over Markevica at No. 5.
With the Minutewomen leading, 3-2, Pavissich grabbed the next point, defeating Boston University's Ellie Gyuro, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot. Faessler finished with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Gabriella Mikaul of Boston University at the No. 1 position to give UMass a 5-2 victory.
The Minutewomen return to action on Sunday, February 15, when they host Hofstra in Amherst, Massachusetts, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
