Swimming & Diving Complete Tate Ramsden Invite

HANOVER, N.H. – University of Massachusetts swimming and diving concluded its time at the Tate Ramsden Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth, on Saturday afternoon at the Karl Michael and Spaulding Pools.
Women's Swimming & Diving
Day One
Competition began with the 500 freestyle, with sophomore Kendall Gilbert (5:27.52) and senior Brynn Morris (5:46.60) took 11th and 12th, respectively.
Junior Beren Cakiroglu placed eighth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.21. Sophomore Courtney Tedesco swam into fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.12, as junior Lindsay Burbage finished 13th with a time of 25.12 and junior Diya Ackerman-Vallala was 14th with a time of 25.19.
During the relays, the team of Ackerman-Vallala, Burbage, Tedesco and Cakiroglu combined for a time of 1:37.28 in the 200 freestyle relay to take fourth.
Day Two
Freshman Flora Klimesch placed 12th in the 100 butterfly to start day two of individual events, before sophomore Maria Grishaeva earned the gold in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:27.68.
Grishaeva took fifth later in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:06.69. The 1,650 freestyle saw freshman Kate Baranova take eighth with a time of 18:57.98. Grishaeva then placed seventh in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.96.
Cakiroglu secured third-pace with a time of 52.54 in the 100 freestyle, as junior Olga Stoura placed ninth with a time of 56.01.
The 200 medley relay team of Grishaeva, Baranova, sophomore Hannah Schoenauer and Tedesco finished fourth with a time of 1:46.51. The 400 freestyle relay team of Ackerman-Vallala, Schoenauer, Tedesco and Cakiroglu took third with a time of 3:33.71.
Men's Swimming & Diving
Day One
Freshman Miles Smyczek took sixth in the 500 freestyle with a time 4:44.55, while fellow classmate Hudson Bawduniak was ninth with a time of 4:50.55.
In the 200 individual medley, junior Cole Brooks had a personal-best time of 1:54.62 to place fourth, followed by junior Jude Boukarroum (1:56.03) and freshman Bode Groh (1:56.49) in sixth.
Senior Sammy Quigg was fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.99. Sophomore Chase Keeler finished eighth with a time of 21.81, while freshman Chase Dai was ninth with a time of 21.84.
In the relay events, the 200 freestyle team of Quigg, junior Aidan Shepston, sophomore Liam Ryason and sophomore Nate Derby placed fourth with a time of 1:24.49
Day Two
Junior Aydin Erkan kicked off day two for the Minutemen with a fifth-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 49.95, as Brooks took seventh with a time of 50.11 in the event. Quigg grabbed the bronze medal in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:04.29.
In the 200 freestyle, freshman Sota Kawahata swam into third with a season-best time of 1:42.01, while fellow classmate Hudson Bawduniak finished fourth with a time of 1:42.97. freshmen Eli Panachyda (57.66) and Bode Groh (57.70) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke.
Brooks placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.70. Kawahata swam into third with a time of 16:26.37 in the 1,650 freestyle, before Bawduniak earned third-place with a time of 2:06.91 in the 200 backstroke.
The 100 freestyle saw junior Alonso Montori place seventh with a time of 46.58 and sophomore Liam Rayson finish eighth with a time of 47.31. Panachyda sat atop the podium in the 200 breaststroke with the sixth-best time in program history of 2:00.50.
Erkan closed out the individual events with a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:49.37.
The 200 medley relay team consisting of Brooks, Dai, Bawduniak and Quigg earned the silver with a time of 1:31.48. The 400 freestyle relay team of Brooks, Rayson, Shepston and Quigg took second with a time of 3:04.55.
On The Boards
Day One
Senior Shreeya Sinha grabbed the silver medal in the three-meter dive with a score of 264.35. Sophomores Khrystyna Yaremyn (252.10) and Danielle Guerin (245.05) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the event.
For the Minutemen, sophomore Alex Kreidler secured the gold with a six-dive total of 317.50 in the one-meter dive. Freshman Carson Harrington followed in second with a total of 298.35 in the event.
Day Two
Guerin was third in the one-meter dive with a score of 252.80, as Sinha placed fifth with a total of 245.35.
Harrington garnered the silver for the Minutemen in the three-meter dive with a six-dive total of 327.15.

The Massachusetts swim and dive team prepare for its final home meet and Senior Day against Fairfield on Saturday, January 24, at Joseph R. Rogers Jr., Pool. The meet is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
Women's Swimming & Diving
Day One
