Zimmerman Completes Massachusetts Hockey's Incoming Class

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6-6, 216-pound forward Elias Zimmerman to the squad for the upcoming 2025-26 season, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Thursday. Zimmerman, a Gälve, Sweden, native, is the eighth member of the Minutemen's class of 2029, joining forwards joining forwards Jack Galanek, Justin Kerr, Lukas Klecka, A.J. Lacroix, Vaclav Nestrasil and defensemen Coleson Hanrahan and Landon Nycz.

"Elias is a Swedish power forward who spent last season in the USHL," said Carvel. "Standing at 6-6, he is a big man and can use his size to win puck battles and create offense from down low and around the net. He is a very good faceoff center who wins a high percentage of his draws when playing down the middle. His size and skill set combined will be something our fans will enjoy watching over the years."

Zimmerman was a member of the Fargo Force in the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2024-25 and posted 18 points on nine goals and nine assists over 59 games. He previously played with Brynäs IF in home country of Sweden and served as captain at the U20, U18 and U16 levels. In 2023-24 with Brynäs, Zimmerman registered 28 points on 17 goals and 11 assists over 47 games.
